How to connect a domain with a website

Last Updated: Aug 02, 2013 10:50AM EDT
When you have a domain name with one provider and hosting service with another you should remember that they have to be linked together.  There are several ways to do that and it mainly depends on your hosting provider which one to use. The hosting provider has to send you the necessary details and you will need to proceed to one of those methods.

1. Most hosting providers will ask you to set their nameservers. If you have domain registered with us, you can follow the instruction:

It's the most convenient method, but please note that you won't be able to access some of our free services (Email Forwarding, DNS Management, URL Forwarding) anymore.

2.  Sometimes you may need to set an A record which means to point your domain to a certain IP. This can be done from your account with us if the domain is using our default nameservers (ns1.domainname.com, ns2.domainname.com, ns3.domainname.com). Feel free to follow the link for more details:

3.  If you are going to host your website with a website building tool, you may be requested to set a CNAME record instead of an A record or nameservers. In most cases you will be provided with specific instructions, but generally speaking, the process is the following:
