Squarespace is a web publishing (blogging / content management) company that sells a software publishing platform and file server service to individuals and businesses, providing them with the tools and assistance to create and maintain astonishingly well-designed websites. Squarespace powers tens of thousands of such websites with billions of monthly hits.

You can link your own domain name with your Squarespace 6 site completing the next steps.

Point your domain to Squarespace site

- Log into your account with DomainName;
- Click on Domains > My Domains;
- Click on DNS button on My Domains page and you will be redirected to DNS Management page:

Please note that if your domain is pointed to third-party name servers you will receive the following message:

It means that you should make the settings in the account with your DNS provider, or point your domain to our name servers and make the changes in your account with DomainName;
- Create two DNS records:
URL Redirect record:
Choose URL Redirect as Record Type, make sure that there is "@" indicated in the Host Name field, put your website URL with www in the Address field, for example, http://www.mydomain.com (where "mydomain.com" is your domain name).
CNAME record:
Choose CNAME as Record Type, make sure that there is "www" indicated in the Host Name field, enter ext.squarespace.com in the "Address" field.
- Click Save Changes.
  The following DNS records are needed to connect your domain with Squarespace.

Make the changes to your Squarespace account
- Log in to your Squarespace website;
- Navigate to the Settings > Domains area, then click the Link Existing Domain option and add your custom domain to the domain URL field;
- Once you've linked your domain it will appear in the Custom Domain area immediately.

Both the www and non-www version of your domain are automatically added and you can toggle your domain to display the version you prefer by clicking the Toggle WWW link next to the domain.

Important DNS updates can take up to 30 minutes to fully propagate on the web. During that time period, your domain may behave strangely (working for some visitors to your site, but not others). Be patient. This is completely normal and will clear up in time.
