How to set MXE record for a domain

Last Updated: Mar 21, 2014 07:58AM EDT
In general both MXE and MX records are set to point your domain to the mailserver. The only difference between them is that MXE record connects your domain with mailserver using IP address, while in MX record you indicate mailserver name for this purpose.

So for example if your hosting provider gave you only IP address of the mailserver you need to point your domain to, you can follow the directions below and set MXE record.

In order to set MXE record for your domain, please do the following:
- Log in to your account with us;
- Click on Domains > My Domains;
- Click on DNS button:

- Enter @ in Host Name field if you wish to set MXE record for the naked domain or subdomain name if you wish it to be created to subdomain, choose MXE (Mail Easy) from the drop-down menu and enter IP address of the mailserver in the Address field;
- Click Save changes;

Important: MXE record can be set from our side only if the domain is pointed to our default nameservers, which are the following:
ns1.domainname.com
ns2.domainname.com
ns3.domainname.com
